Mt. Hood from my building, and behind it (you'll have to trust me on
this one) more snowy mountains… Rainier? It's a lovely day and I
get to go out and enjoy it in 3…2….
I had to take a Health Assessment today for work insurance coverage. In the age of a black president, equal marriage protests in all 50 states, and female vice presidents taken seriously enough to get 40+% of the vote… well, let’s just say I was disappointed.
First we had question #36, which lists some illnesses they’d like to know if you suffer.
As you can see, your choices are Cancer, Asthma, Diabetes, Stroke, and… Menopause?
Um, that’s a hereditary thing, right?
Next up, they want to know your relationship status.
I know that the background here is that statistically, people in long term committed relationships are healther than people who aren’t. But, don’t you think it’s a little 50s of them to require that you be Married, Alone, or… Other?
This blog post contains no photos of fall leaves.
Hi out there. I know you were wondering if I’d come back, so I thought I’d type up a little update to my week here.
Last week I was on vacation, and had time to care about (and get angry about) things like politics and such. This week, no such thing. I spent all week in orientation with the new company, and MAN was it a lot of information in a few short hours. My brain hurts. But, many things have happened, so..
I met a ton of new people, I got a new laptop (it’s exactly like the old laptop, but runs Vista), I learned to use half a dozen new complicated systems to do things like get training and submit time cards. OMG there is SO MUCH training to be done.
I interviewed twice (!) at The Company, only a few miles from the old job, and I think I actually got ‘hired’ to a job, which I really hope I like because I’m there til next July! On the other hand, I’m only there til July!
So, all is well, I’m still alive, the new job is pretty exciting, and soon I’ll be back more regularly.
