We have decided to start a new weekly meal calendar this month, limiting our shopping to only Sunday & Wednesday, and scheduling the type of meal we’ll cook and eat every day of the week. Lots of variation, of course (Sunday night is “carbohydrate with veggies” night), but we’re hoping it a) makes sure we eat more regularly b) keeps us from eating out in desperation c) limits the grocery bills, which climb exponentially the more we make last minute runs for individual meals.
Monday nights, though, are Cook Something New Nights. So tonight I picked a recipe out of Deborah Madison’s The Greens Cookbook: Red and Yellow Pepper Tart. I think I either made to many peppers, or didn’t spread the tart crust high enough, but either way it seems to have overflowed somewhat. Smells pretty amazing though.

A heart shaped cherry, in my breakfast this morning. Happy Monday!

Watching the Pride Parade in downtown Seattle… The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence perform.

The Seattle Mens Chorus sings to Leslie Jordan in Comedy Tonight, their summer show. HILARIOUS, of course, as any show including both the Sperm Song and a baton twirling corps would be.

On the way to work I saw a robin with a huge worm that turned out to be a baby snake. I scared away the bird, but he was still pissed, hissing at me while I took this picture.

Talina’s sister Khylia is in town visiting us this week, and we made a stop at the Troll in Fremont on our way home from the Solstice Festival last night… alas, he remained a troll, and it appears she’ll have to find a man in the ordinary manner.
Lots more pictures of her visit and our vacation week over at Flickr…

T and her sister debate the finer points of kicking my ass at the Garage.
