My New Home

My new office... mostly moved in now. Note the Worst Office Chair Ever... it sinks to the lowest setting every 5 minutes. I HATE IT. Awesome Corporate Factoid: it will take upto 49 days to get me a new chair, according to the Facilities Request site.

O My

Gardened a bit this evening... ate a few more cherry tomatoes and asked the pear tomatoes nicely if they wouldn't turn yellow a bit more quickly. My patio is absolutely taken over by the garden, there's hardly anywhere to sit or stand out there and it's being eaten alive by tiny spiders. I wish they'd eat the black aphids faster.

The Coldest Winter

Headed North over the Golden Gate on our way to Napa for the day. The city is buried in thick fog and very cold. Everyone is wearing coats. It is 40 degrees colder here than it was in Dallas.

Whatever God Wants, He Keeps

Fleeting handprint on a rock in Denny Creek at the end of our hike up to Annette Lake, about an hour east of Seattle. A lovely hot day spent in the shade of a (very steep!) hike, and to round it out, a few minutes with our feet in the creek at the bottom.

Happy 4th of July!

Fireworks
Originally uploaded by missmegancelia.
I went sailing on a boat in Elliott Bay to watch the fireworks this year, with Rishi and his family, and Jason and Irene. The sunset was amazing, tool. It was cold, but beautiful and lots of fun: a much better experience than watching from a yard or a roof!

welcome back to civilization

sitting in jason's backyard enjoying his new copper firepit... now all we need are vegetarian marshmallows and recyclable skewers.
Eggshells

Eggshells
Originally uploaded by missmegancelia.
I'm home! I went backpacking at Elfin Lakes, in Garibaldi Provincial Park in Canada, with my friend Sarah. It was a one night trip, only 11km but half of that was over snow a lot like this in the picture.
The snow melted all over in crazy eggshell case shapes, maybe because the reflected light kept melting it further and further? It made it hard to walk!!
ouch

Travel Tip: Snow is a reflector for sunlight. Wear sunscreen EVERYWHERE, or suffer the consequences. Did i mention ouch?
