trapped

This was a honey bee trapped in the foyer of Barnes & Noble in Redmond... I was out in the sunshine taking a mental health break from the office, and tried to figure out for a little while how to help him find the door and not the window. He wasn't impressed by my efforts, unfortunately, and perhaps he's there still...

hard work

Facing East:

Facing West:

Spent this afternoon gardening on the patio -- I think I'm finally done out there. One more planting: cucumbers have a few more days before I think they're big enough to brave the outdoors. Today I got the tomatoes into the big trough planter I bought from Gardner's Supply Company. They cost too much, but they're pretty and hopefully they'll help keep at least a few plants alive this summer.

In other news, Jeffrey Foucault has 3 free songs from his new album Ghost Repeater available on his website. They're very good, I'm looking forward to the concert in June. Can you say no to free songs? I think not.

Just Say No

To nasty unnatural "beverages"... a mistake both John and I will no doubt repeat many times in the future.

Happy Birthday, Grandma

Koster Reunion
Originally uploaded by missmegancelia.

Dad called a few hours ago to say Grandma chose to go today, on her 94th birthday. I knew she would; what better day?

I wanted a photo of her, and remembered I had old photos from the 50th Anniversary reunion. We never saw the Ohio family much, but I like this little snapshot of us all back then, so much younger and healthier.

I hope wherever we all go, we really do get the chance to see the people who went first. I'd like to think she's 25 all over again, and telling Grandpa all the things he missed by going first.

Fresh mint mojitos on Tom's porch... at least we can pretend it's summer!

knit happens!

Debbie Stoller of Stitch and Bitch fame came to speak at a bookshop near here, and Laura's keen eyes and unmatched connections in the craft world got us there on time. Crochet is fun, too!
